The Issue
Stephens Gaskets were running a Citrix hosted remote desktop solution. This included 4
servers with the infrastructure hosted in a data centre. The company had a dedicated leased
line and VPN connectivity to the data centre. The incumbent support company were not
assisting with a solution improvement.
After a 1-hour video call with Zest, it was easy to see the solution was over engineered and
the company had a simple requirement for file sharing and email.
The recommended changes consisted of:
- Migrate from a hosted Citrix solution to Microsoft 365 for files with SharePoint, 365
email, and Microsoft Azure cloud authentication - Replace the point to point leased line for a fully managed and converged lower cost
fibre line - Implement new firewall with no ongoing renewal costs
Train the team - Implement a new VoIP phone system to complement the new infrastructure
- Use the current version of Sage Cloud 50, as it now supports a serverless environment
- Implement automated and monitored cloud to cloud back up of all systems, for
disaster recovery
Migrating all systems to 365 would remove the requirement for a datacentre server
infrastructure, significantly reducing complexity and allow for multiple users to collaborate
on the same document, which was required but not previously possible.
The Solution
- The implementation of Microsoft 365, migration of files from the hosted file server to
- the 365 cloud files
- Migration of email to Microsoft 365
- Implementation of SharePoint files with one drive sync, and files on demand
- User collaboration on documents which had not previously been possible
